What a busy month it has been for us here at the Free Range Games! We’ve spent last week in Cologne, Germany at Gamescom revealing new information about The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria ™.
We hosted a humble booth at Gamescom where we held closed door previews. Inside the booth we decorated with a wall size version of the map of Middle-earth. We sought out the help of a professional cartographer to get this designed. We can't wait for fans to decipher its messages once the game releases.
In just 3 days we hosted over 40 closed-door interviews with various press outlets and journalists. We are blown away by the positive response we’ve received from our hands-off demo from both press and fans. Here are some of our favorite quotes from the folks we spoke with at Gamescom:
“I knew very little about it beforehand, yet by the time I left, it had become one of the best games I’d seen at the entire show.“ The Gamer
“Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria marks the first time I've ever been excited for a survival game” PC Gamer
“Free Range could have slapped the Lord Of The Rings IP on any old toss and called it a day…, but instead they’ve created a polished, quality survival-crafting game first and foremost that just happens to use Tolkien’s world to really kick it up another several notches…it’s honestly hard not to see this being a game that people love and play for a very long time” GAMINGbible
“...the way that Return to Moria makes following plot objectives easy, without sacrificing the unguided exploration aspects of the genre, is really exciting, and something we can’t wait to check out more of soon.” Epic Games
"Definitely our pleasant surprise of the week, this survival crafting game should be on every Lord of the Rings fan’s radar." Radio Times
"I’ve come away with the impression it’s far more than just a cheap LOTR pretender. The game strikes me as a real competitor, with well thought out story beats and crafting treats to make Moria’s restoration a hearty adventure…" Rock Paper Shotgun
Summoned by Gimli Lockbearer– voiced by the one-and-only John Rhys-Davies– players will begin their journey into Moria on the Epic Games and PlayStation Stores beginning October 24, 2023! Pre-Purchase on the Epic Games Store and Wishlist on the PlayStation store is now live. Release for the Xbox Series X|S console systems are scheduled to come in early 2024. We are also very excited about the physical release of the game, coming out December 5th on PS5.
Thanks again to all the fans for your continued support. Remember, to see all of the latest news about the game, be sure to follow our socials: Discord, Twitter X, TikTok, and YouTube.
